Happy 2nd graders from Mrs. Lauck's class with their birthday book donations |
Did you know that the Jane Willis Library has a birthday book club (BBC) program? It is through this PTA run program/fundraiser that we bring over 200 new books to the library shelves each year. This year, co-chairs Julie Waltzer and Galye Patel are rolling out the new books during our regularly scheduled library class times. Students whose parents have made a donation to the BBC are choosing a book from an amazing selection; each book is then plated with a label that denotes who the book is donated in honor of and each student gets their picture taken with the book. Lastly, he/she is the first to check out the donated book and bring it home and photos will be hung to honor the participants. I love BBC because it is the gift that keeps on giving. These new books become a part of our treasured collection and students come back each year looking for the titles that they remember donating to the library. It is not too late to participate. We will have a second roll-out in January for spring birthdays and we would be happy to plan a make-up day this semester if more participants with fall birthdays sign up. Through BBC, we also receive donations in honor of other special events and moments. I still love buying a book for the library and getting the bookplate for Jenna and Caleb.
Please consider becoming a member of the BBC. Many thanks!!!
