All 3rd through 5th graders are encouraged to participate in the Bluebonnet Program. Students must read 5 of the 20 nominated books in order to vote in January. Of course, we encourage them to read more. Efforts small and large are rewarded after the January voting takes place. The chosen books include both fiction and nonfiction and a variety of different reading levels. Books are chosen by the Texas Library Association. Check out the book list at their website. Teachers support the program by keeping track of books that have been read independently by students and as read-a-louds.
